
MP Taverna, Chef Michael Psilakis’s modern interpretation of a traditional Greek tavern, is an exciting addition to the Long Island dining scene. Open for lunch and dinner, MP Taverna’s accessible, Greek-inspired menu brings Psilakis’ Greek fare into the American culinary lexicon and is another step towards the chef’s goal of putting Greek cuisine on the culinary main stage.The menu offers mezes (appetizers) and salads like Crispy Cod with garlic, potato puree and tomato sauce; Octopus with a Mediterranean chickpea salad; Tomato Salad, string beans, grilled onions and Trio of Spreads including yogurt & cucumber, feta & spicy chili and sun-dried tomato & chickpea. Entrees offered include Grilled Branzino with fingerling potatoes, cherry tomatoes and olives; Dumplings, spicy lamb sausage, sundried tomato, pine nuts, spinach and tomatoes, Spanakorizo, prawns, risotto, spinach, tomato, garlic and feta and various simply grilled options like Chicken, Salmon and Swordfish. An abbreviated menu is available during lunch and includes a selection of salads and sandwiches along with a rotating prix-fixe menu, comprised of an appetizer, entrée and dessert which is available for $15. A list of daily rotating specials at dinner, honoring Chef’s Greek roots, including Pikilia, filet mignon, pork tenderloin, chicken, loukaniki; Ostrakoidi Me Orzo, “Greek Paella” shellfish, spicy lamb sausage & orzo and Pastitsio, “baked ziti” with beef & béchamel.The affordable beverage list features 20 wines that are available by the glass and an extensive selection of beers and ales are available on draft and by the bottle.
The interiors and ambiance by Michael David Associates provide a masculine, light and spacious brasserie feel. The main dining room on the ground floor seats 80 guests while upstairs. A large central j-shaped bar dominates the ground floor and seats 22 guests.
